Middle School (primary secondary school), state school. It took its name from Angelo Pinetti, a historian, university professor, Mayor of Martinengo and President of the Province of BERGAMO in the period between 1918 and 1922. His writings, researches and cataloging works are still a reference point for scholars today. . They were placed here since the nineteenth century when the Cisalpine laws suppressed the pre-existing Monastery (XIV century) of the nuns of San Francesco (Clarisse) wanted by Thisbe Martinengo wife of Colleoni. Passed into ownership by the Municipality, it became a college that was soon the protagonist of the Italian Risorgimento against the Austrians. Here students were formed who were protagonists in the wars of independence and in the expedition of the Thousand (5 collegiate Garibaldi's). With the unification of Italy and the extension of the right to education, the convent was renovated and enlarged towards the south. The cloister and the two churches (inside and outside the enclosure) remained almost intact, as well as the characteristic beautiful spire bell tower . Now the state middle schools for pupils aged from eleven to thirteen have their headquarters here. A high wall surrounded the complex and the last remaining stretch (located on Via Colleoni, in front of the oratory) was demolished in 1981 (G.Rizzoli Administration). An important building intervention was carried out starting from 1960 (Massarotti Administration) ... Thus was born the gym, the municipal archive and the small conference center that still persists. It would deserve an urgent adjustment that would return it to the social educational uses to which it has always been destined.
