Al disotto di Sasso Poiano si trova un‟estesa parete rocciosa, lunga circa 2 km e di altezza compressa tra 20 e 40 m. La parete coincide approssimativamente con il confine del SIC, posto in direzione NW-SE, ed è soggetta a sporadici crolli.
La roccia è costituita da calcilutiti/calcari marnosi a interstrati marnosi, ricca di noduli e lenti di selce (Maiolica), con giacitura verso NW ad angolo medio basso (20°-40°).
Morfologicamente, il versante può essere suddivisa in due settori:
- tra Fornazze e Stallazzo prevale un parete subverticale o ad acclività molto elevata.
- tra Stallazzo e Pozzei la parete assume una pendenza decisamente minore, con inclinazione a medio angolo (40°-50°, con locale accentuazione delle pendenze nella parte basale). Grazie alla minore acclività, sul versante si è sviluppata una copertura arborea di una certa continuità.

The rock is made up of calcilutite / marly limestone with marly interlayers, rich in nodules and flint lenses (Majolica), with a medium-low angle towards NW at a medium-low angle (20 ° -40 °).
Morphologically, the slope can be divided into two sectors:
- between Fornazze and Stallazzo a sub-vertical or very steep wall prevails.
- between Stallazzo and Pozzei the wall assumes a much lower slope, with a medium angle inclination (40 ° -50 °, with local accentuation of the slopes in the basal part). Thanks to the lower slope, a tree cover of a certain continuity has developed on the slope.
