★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Realizzata in mattoni d'argilla di fiume, d'impronta romano-gotica, la chiesa lega la sua storia a quella della famiglia Canossa. Faceva parte di un complesso abbaziale che ricevette da Matilde cospicue donazioni.
Si tratta di una pieve, ancora una volta dedicata all'Assunta, che sorge nei pressi dell'argine, immersa in un paesaggio di grande suggestione.
Made of river clay bricks, of Roman-Gothic style, the church links its history to that of the Canossa family. It was part of an abbey complex which received substantial donations from Matilde.
It is a parish church, once again dedicated to the Assumption, which rises near the embankment, immersed in a landscape of great beauty.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Antica chiesa matildica di stile romanico-gotico, iniziata nel XI sec. e rimaneggiata più volte.
È semplice e bella al contempo. Si respira l'aria di un vero tempio di culto.
Anche l'ubicazione, proprio a ridosso dell'argine del Po, la rende suggestiva.
La si può vedere quindi da dentro, da fuori e " dall'alto dell'argine "; poco prima del tramonto, con il sole rosso che bacia i suoi mattoni, l'esterno dà il meglio di sé.
Ancient Matildic church of Romanesque-Gothic style, begun in the 11th century. and reworked several times.
It is simple and beautiful at the same time. You breathe the air of a true temple of worship.
Even the location, right next to the bank of the Po, makes it suggestive.
It can therefore be seen from within, from outside and "from the top of the bank"; just before sunset, with the red sun kissing its bricks, the outside gives the best of itself.
