Purtroppo la chiesa non era accessibile. A giudicare dall'ingresso sembra anche abbastanza trascurata, a vedere i monconi di quello che doveva essere l'arco di ingresso mi si è stretto il cuore. Però l'effige di Genova, lo scudo di San Giorgio sorretto dai due Grifoni, splende (anche se un po' annerito) sulla facciata. Un altro pezzetto di Genova in giro per il mondo, in questa città che ho adorato proprio per i tanti punti in comune con la mia terra. Tornerò sperando di trovarla aperta e riportata agli antichi splendori! I absolutely wanted to visit the church of San Giorgio dei Genovesi. As a good Ligurian I wanted to visit the church built by the Genoese in the Neapolitan land. Unfortunately the church was not accessible. Judging from the entrance it also seems quite neglected, my heart squeezed to see the stumps of what must have been the entrance arch. However, the effigy of Genoa, the shield of San Giorgio supported by the two Griffins, shines (even if a little blackened) on the facade. Another piece of Genoa around the world, in this city that I loved because of the many points in common with my land. I will return hoping to find it open and restored to its former glory!

All'interno della chiesa, che si presenta a Croce Latina con Navata unica rivestita da Stucchi e con una Cupola, conserva una gran quantità di opere d'arte,la più celebre delle quali è un dipinto di Battistello Caracciolo,Sant'Antonio risuscita un morto. Questa opera è una chiara testimonianza di quanto l'arte del del Caravaggio abbia influenzato quella epoca e l'artista,nonché la Pittura Napoletana. The Church of San Giorgio dei Genovesi (or San Giorgio alla Commedia Vecchia) stands in the historic center of Naples, in Via Medina. The structure is typically Baroque and rises above a staircase built in the seventeenth century by Bartolomeo Picchiatti. Inside the church, which presents itself as a Latin cross with a single nave covered by stucco and with a dome, it preserves a large quantity of works of art, the most famous of which is a painting by Battistello Caracciolo, Sant'Antonio raises a dead. This work is a clear testimony of how much the art of Caravaggio influenced that era and the artist, as well as Neapolitan painting.
