It would deserve infinite stars! It's really a special place embraced by peace and serenity. I really believe that all prays done in this place have left a indelible mark. In my opinion should be the main Assisi attraction. If you visit Assisi, you can miss every other site, but not this one.

In it's simplicity one of the best Holy place in the area. Just stop and pray. Don't miss to take your time and talk to the local friars, it's more than worth that time.

The birthplace of "St. Francis's Assisi". A beautiful reminder also of St. Claire's mission and miraculous works.

San Damiano was an amazing way to spend an afternoon. Clare was a woman that should be known by everyone. She was strong and smart and directed. The walk to and from San Damiano had a pedestrian path- it is steep but passable- by a variety of different abilities. I saw people with walking sticks, people walking with a limp and young, old, healthy, and no so healthy looking. I strongly recommend you make the walk- AND- maintain the silence requested by the signs and Friars. This is one holy place and I hope you can make it to this beautiful site.

The grounds are beautiful. Because St. Francis is one of my favorite saints, I felt like I was in holy space.

This place is crowded! The original cross of San Damiano is in Santa Chiara, not here. Go early in the day. Beautiful olive groves at the entrance. It takes a good amount of walking to get here but very worth while.

Not in the center of Assisi, hence not crowded as other Holy places in the town. However, the tiny church is amazing as it also has a significant role in Christianism and Italian literature. St. Francis wrote the Canticle of the Sun here, known as the earliest known vernacular literature written in the Umbrian dialect of Italian.
