★ ★ ★ ★ ★ La chiesetta di S.Stefano di Obermontani è sita poco fuori Morter, frazione di Laces ed all'ingresso della Val Martello. Risale all'inizio del XV secolo, ma alcuni resti di muratura sono romanici. Strategica la posizione, quale porta d'accesso, da Tarres, alla val d'Ultimo o alla Valle di Non. Nota come la Cappella Sistina dell'Alto Adige per gli affreschi lombardi del 1440 (raffiguranti S. Stefano - Santa Ursula - L'Adorazione dei magi e la Madonna con diversi personaggi del periodo - temi tipici del Gotico Internazionale) e per quelli svevi del 1480 (riguardanti la Passione di Cristo ed il Giudizio Universale). Un tempo finita come ovile, fortunatamente si è salvata e può essere visitata dietro pagamento di un biglietto dal costo molto ragionevole. Consigliabile prenotare per tempo. Noi abbiamo avuto una guida eccezionale. Dal castello di Montani di Sopra, in 10 max 15 minuti si scende a piedi su un sentiero sterrato. Merita enormemente.
The church of S. Stefano di Obermontani is located just outside Morter, a hamlet of Laces and at the entrance to Val Martello. It dates back to the early 15th century, but some remains of masonry are Romanesque. Its position as gateway from Tarres to Val d'Ultimo or Valle di Non is strategic. Known as the Sistine Chapel of Alto Adige for the Lombard frescoes of 1440 (depicting S. Stefano - Santa Ursula - L ' Adoration of the Magi and the Madonna with different characters of the period - typical themes of the International Gothic) and for the Swabian ones of 1480 (concerning the Passion of Christ and the Last Judgment). Once ended up as a sheepfold, fortunately it was saved and can be visited upon payment of a very reasonably priced ticket. It is advisable to book early. We had an exceptional guide. From the castle of Montani di Sopra, in 10 max 15 minutes you can walk down a dirt path. It deserves enormously.
