Super ambitious menu, creatively crafted though still seasonal and local.
Chic presentation and attentive English-speaking sercive.
Our favourites were definitely the pasta dishes:
The chestnut truffle lasagne with juniper and haze (like the best dish of your favourite Italian grandmother)
And the smoked spaghetti with a kind of pecorino (minimalistic and just "wow").
We ate better with the mater team than at most * - *** restaurants in italy we visited before.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ What a stunning restaurant- with beautiful views over the valley towards Poppi- but it is the food which will make us return for more! We had the exceptional tasting menu and with very well chosen wine matches too. Imaginative and delicious food! Very good service and a view into the kitchens to observe each special plate of food prepared very well. Highly recommended.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This restaurant is incredible! What a gem! The experience was one in a million. The food, the service the atmosphere was perfection. For such an experience, it is very good value (the cost would be multiplied in any city and it would probably be less authentic). I cannot recommend Ristorante Mater enough. If you are nearby, you must go !

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ There are many reasons for visiting Mater as soon as possible - the dishes are made from uniquely flavourful ingredients, the combinations are well thought through and the technical skill of the chefs is world class. Most importantly, though, you can ride a rising star among the elite restaurants of the world, and experience their wonderful culinary experiments, both extraordinary and grounded in local cuisine, before it will inevitably be fully booked for months in advance and the bills have some zeroes added to them. Of course, there are still some kinks being worked out, but those are only evident in comparison to some of the most famous restaurants in the world. In conclusion, go and allow Mater to delight you while you still can.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Usually I do not recommend restaurants because can’t always like everything. We are all different, and tastes are different too, this is life. But now we have found a perfectionist paradise. We have visited the perfectly planned space with very attentive and careful staff, impeccable service and a kitchen that cannot be forgotten. I did not find any flaw in 12 dishes- “to explore”. Wish you to get your Michelin star soon.
