An absolute delight, hidden gem, deserving of its 9 out of 10 score! For me they are 10 of 10, or 5 of 5 on googlescoring! ^_^ On Poste Vecie's website they claim to be the oldest restaurant in Venice, dating from the 1500's! It looks pretty ancient, and traditional, yet well looked after, fully refurbished and functional, entrance is a bridge across the little canal, low ceiling at the door entrance, β€œmind your head”, a gorgeous fireplace to the left, and after dropping our coats and bag, we were shown a table across that fireplace. You're treated like royalty, welcomed with a treat of flutes of bubbly while inspecting the QR menu on our phones, the restaurant, sophisticated and refined. Food choice is varied, what we’d chose delicious and classy. As usual my husband’s dish better than mine! I went for the frittura di pesce crostacei and verdure. What came was a huge dish with a lagostine and a huge prawn and seafood, which on the looks, much more beautiful, and delicious tastewise, and a huge dish, too much for me... Hubby went for the seppie nero a veneziana, and hum! He let me have a bite, the seppie sauce (very dark sauce around the fish) was fantastic, smooth and exquisite, magnificent! Next time it will be that one for me! ^_^ To reach this restaurant, was not so easy. We had been en route along the picturesque labyrinth of core Venice narrow lanes, northwest direction having just passed Rialto Bridge some 5 mins before, and at 1pm, time for a pitstop for a bite. There’s a multitude of options on the way, but like many, we don't just drop by and trust our luck, or number of tourists sat at the restaurant. Looked up in googlemaps, checked reviews, we like minimum 4.5 of 5, in a couple hundred super positive reviews -- that'd be difficult to fake! All in all, greatly recommended! When we’re back to Venice, we will certainly return!

This was the worst dining experience we had in Venice. First, we had to wait over 1h before we got our primi piati. When the pasta finally arrived, it was cold. Then they served the grilled fish, which was completely tasteless, no seasoning whatsoever - never tasted less in an Italian restaurant. To top it all, they brought us a lemon we asked for the fish after we finished eating. Avoid!

Amazing experience. This charming restaurant has a lovely entrance on a small canal. The service was exceptional, they even offered us some welcome prosecco and freshly baked focaccia, and the food was incredible. The baccalΓ  manteccato rivals that of my grandma, and everything we tried was delicious. Great spot for a romantic dinner if you like to eat good Venetian food!

We got the "Poste Vecie" as an insider tip, and are very glad we stopped by. My tuna in pistachio coat was very delicate. The risotto alle sepie nere has fully convinced my wife. The service was friendly professional and courteous.

Incredible restaurant in a beautiful building that used to be a Post Office. Had the tasting menu, a gastronomic delight from the very delicious oyster to the caramelised pineapple. Discreet and perfect service.

The entrance to Poste Vecie is really atmospheric, as is the interior. However, that is where the positives stop sadly. The crab salad (one of us had that only, another as part of a medley) had pieces of shell in it, the octopus and prawns were chewy and the pastas lacked flavour and were heavy. The service, although friendly, was rushed. We had barely sat down when we were already asked whether we had made our choice and this kept on the entire duration we were there. We had already been told we had a 2 hour time slot but the rush was too palpable for comfort. The batter of the fritta mista though was very light and well executed. The tiramisu was also a hit. Overall, we thought the experience didn't justify the prices.
