★ ★ ★ ★ ★ If you are looking for serious black slopes to give you quite a run for the money, Arabba is a must-visit place. With the neighboring Alta Badia Valley, easy to reach on skis, it is one of the two most centrally located valleys in the Dolomites, offering an ideal launchpad for long range ski tours like the 1st World War ski tour, a visit to the Marmolada glacier and, of course the well known Sella Ronda.
Arabba is the ideal place for anti-apres-ski skiers: if you are looking for a total mountain experience and hate crowded and noisy places, Arabba is a very serious contender.
The Porta Vescovo Restaurant is modern and comfortable and offers a wide variety of dishes at reasonable prices. I found the staff remarkably kind. Their hot chocolate is world-class and prices are more than acceptable. Few places in the Dolomites area match the breathtaking scenery you can see from the restaurant balcony, both towards Marmolada and towards Alta Badia and Sella Group.
