It is a place full of charm, well preserved and certainly beautiful to visit. "Porta Camollìa" is one of the ancient gates in the walls of Siena and it is located at the end of Via di Camollìa, in the "Contrada of the Istrice". The name of the gate is linked to the legend of the foundation of Siena, according to which in the 7th century BC Romulus would have sent Camulio to capture the nephews Senio and Ascanio and Camulio settled with his camp in the area where the "Porta" stands.

I'm giving this 5 stars as there is an escalator system that brings you to and from the gate to Siena's city center rather than paying for a bus or taxi. To use, head out terminal to the mall. Take mall escalator to second floor, walk through sliding glass doors, and take escalator and people movers up, up, up. Siena gate to city center is about 200 yards to your left.

Historic entrance to the old city which is still being used and is a recommended place to start your tour to visit the historic center of siena

Most likely this will be the entrance to the city if you are coming from the train station. If you come by car, you will need to leave the car on a public parking because you will not be allowed to trespass it (or if so, you'll get a nasty ZTL fine worth €100 or so)

Entry point to Sienna old city. Free parking outsize along the city walls on the left (outside ZTL)

The view was really nice. Make sure you find the nice views in this city. They are the best.

I went to Siena for the day and came across this amazing piece of architecture. A must see if you are visiting the area. Be careful though as it isn't clear but the main archway is road, rather than path...and cars come through pretty quick. The side archways are for pedestrians.
