Sopra di essa una dedica elogia Rodrigo Borgia governatore pontificio della città e in seguito tristemente conosciuto come papa Alessandro VI. Nella targa gli abitanti della città si autodefinivano veientani, a quei tempi si era convinti che l'attuale sito della città ospitasse l'antica Veio. Ancient gateway to Civita Castellana. A beautiful marble frieze from an ancient Roman tomb frames the door. Above it a dedication praises Rodrigo Borgia papal governor of the city and later sadly known as Pope Alexander VI. In the plaque the inhabitants of the city called themselves veientani, in those days it was convinced that the current site of the city would host the ancient Veii.

I cospiratori (tra cui fece parte anche Seneca) furono traditi dal liberto Flavio Scevino e successivamente vennero arrestati. Diciannove furono giustiziati e tredici esiliati (tra cui Glizio Gallo). A Pisone venne dato l'ordine di uccidersi.
