L	Luca C. on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Location incantevole a due passi dal lago di Cavazzo. La pieve si raggiunge percorrendo una salita ed è situata a Cesclans. La chiesa è molto bella ed è possibile anche accedere nei sotterranei dove c'è una sorta di museo con reperti storici interessantissimi. Inoltre viene spiegata la storia della pieve e dei relativi reperti trovati all' interno. A corredo di tutto ciò, il panorama è la ciliegina sulla torta in questa oasi di pace. A fianco alla chiesa si trova anche il cimitero. Un posto che merita sicuramente una visita. Enchanting location a stone's throw from Lake Cavazzo. The parish can be reached by going uphill and is located in Cesclans. The church is very beautiful and it is also possible to access the basement where there is a sort of museum with very interesting historical artifacts. In addition, the history of the parish church and the related finds found inside is explained. In support of all this, the view is the icing on the cake in this oasis of peace. Next to the church there is also the cemetery. A place that is definitely worth a visit.

Costruita sopra uno sperone roccioso , forse sui resti di un antico castello o torre di vedetta . Documenti ne attestano l' esistenza gia' nel XII° secolo . Attorno alla pieve il cimitero costruito , su diversi livelli , seguendo la morfologia dello sperone roccioso . Antiche lapidi di bambini ancora affisse al muretto di cinta , attestano la pre-esistente area cimiteriale nell' area attorno alla chiesa . Purtroppo il terremoto del 1976 , ne ha distrutto gran parte , poi ricostruita soprattutto dalla tenacia e volonta' di rinascita del popolo Friulano - Carnico . Splendida vista panoramica . The Pieve di Santo Stefano, one of the eleven ancient churches of Carnia, built along the historic communication route of the Tagliamento with the Norico. Built on a rocky spur, perhaps on the remains of an ancient castle or lookout tower. Documents attest to its existence already in the 12th century. Around the church the cemetery built, on different levels, following the morphology of the rocky spur. Ancient tombstones of children still affixed to the surrounding wall, attest the pre-existing cemetery area in the area around the church. La chiesa sorge in una posizione particolarmente favorevole per il controllo della valle del Tagliamento ed é stata utilizzata, per questo motivo, fin dall'antichità. Le prime notizie della Pieve risalgono al 1119 quando fu donata dal Patriarca di Aquileia all'Abbazia di Moggio. La Pieve di Cesclans é stata pesantemente danneggiata nel terremoto del 76. Questa chiesa merita una visita sia per conoscere l'edificio che per apprezzare la bellezza di questo contesto che permette di vedere contemporaneamente Tolmezzo da una parte e il lago di Cavazzo dall'altra This is one of the eleven churches of Carnia and certainly one of the best known.
