C	Carlo Raso on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ La chiesa è edificata in posizione eccentrica rispetto al borgo, in prossimità delle mura orientali, è la Pieve di San Giorgio, risalente come epoca di fondazione al secolo XII, uno degli esempi di architettura romanica sacra più importanti del piacentino, con impianto a tre navate e torre campanaria quadrangolare. Il portale d’ingresso, di ottima fattura, è sormontato da una lunetta scolpita raffigurante S. Giorgio che uccide il drago, risalente probabilmente al Duecento, mentre l’abside centrale, affiancato da altri due absidi incomplete, è sormontato da un’elegante galleria di coronamento. L’interno presenta poderose colonne in pietra e capitelli scolpiti con figure. Nell’affresco absidale è ripreso il tema di S. Giorgio che uccide il drago, opera di un ignoto maestro locale del secolo X. The church is built in an eccentric position with respect to the village, near the eastern walls, is the Parish Church of San Giorgio, dating back to the 12th century, one of the most important examples of Romanesque sacred architecture in Piacenza, with a nave and two aisles and quadrangular bell tower. The entrance portal, of excellent workmanship, is surmounted by a carved lunette depicting St. George killing the dragon, probably dating back to the thirteenth century, while the central apse, flanked by two other incomplete apses, is surmounted by an elegant gallery crowning. The interior has powerful stone columns and capitals carved with figures. In the apse fresco the theme of St. George killing the dragon, by an unknown local master of the X century is reproduced.

Allego qualche notizia storica: Chiesa romanica del XII secolo ha tre navate divise da quattro coppie di possenti pilastri rotondi con capitelli scolpiti con figure. Ha subito rimaneggiamenti rinascimentali e barocchi, ma grazie al restauro del 1963, si presenta oggi con il suo aspetto originale, austero ed imponente. La facciata è impreziosita da un portale scolpito con colonnine dai capitelli fogliati e nella lunetta una scultura raffigurante San Giorgio. Poche le tracce di affresco, San Giorgio nell'abside del XV secolo e San Benedetto su un pilastro, datato 19 luglio 1427. Il campanile di pianta quadrangolare, è sormontato da bifore. Few traces of frescoes, San Giorgio in the 15th century apse and San Benedetto on a pillar, dated 19 July 1427. The quadrangular bell tower is surmounted by mullioned windows.

All'interno l'ho sempre trovata molto scura, ma ci sono affreschi molto interessanti e tutta l'atmosfera è molto suggestiva. Romanesque church of the XII century, well preserved. Piccola chiesa caratteristica, una bellazza in stile romanico caratteristica già dalla facciata esterna e dal tipico campanile. All interno si respira l arte, l architettura romanica. Tra affreschi rupestri in parte persi in parte recuperati, statue, l altare incantevole. Entrando bisogna mettere 1 euro per l accensione della luce per la durata di 4 minuti, ma appena si accendono le luci si resta senza parole. Un chiaro esempio di quanto l arte resta nel tempo per chi sa apprezzarla. Alcune foto per invogliarvi ad andarci. A magnificent reality in the enchanting Vigoleno.
