The parish of Santa Maria Ausiliatrice is the last to be built in the municipality of Laveno-Mombello but no less rich in history and traditions. The current church building was designed by the engineer Edmondo Bonito in July 1930, updating and harmonizing the forms and style of Romanesque art to the taste of that period. In September 1930 the first stone of the Church was laid, which was built "in the midst of enormous difficulties [...] a true miracle of activity, patience and sacrifice". It was built as a subsidiary church of that of Mombello in the area called Ponte di Laveno for at least two reasons: the substantial increase in the local population, the establishment of new establishments and homes. The parish was founded by the will of Cardinal Archbishop Alfredo Ildefonso Schuster who erected it in 1948, defined its boundaries in 1949 by detaching it from that of Mombello and finally, the Archbishop himself officially established it on 29 June 1950, with his own decree. The church was then consecrated, on June 26, 1974, by Cardinal Archbishop Giovanni Colombo. The interior of the building, which was not finished according to the original project, has some original furnishings: the large central altar of St. Mary Help of Christians, and the side altars of St. Joseph, the Sacred Heart and St. John Bosco. To the right of the entrance, beyond the bronze bust of Don Redaelli, the work of Angelo Frattini, you can see two large canvases, made by Mario Aubel, depicting Saints Ambrose and Charles and Saint Rita. Various priests have been pastors of this Church: don Ernesto Redaelli, Msgr. Ivan Tagliaferri, Don Edoardo Appennini, Don Giuseppe Vertemati. The church was built on a ground called the "Galvana". The project by Ing. Edmondo Benito was carried out by the Conca-Bellorini company. The first stone was laid by Cardinal Schuster on 25 September 1930 and the church was opened for worship exactly one year later in September 1931. It was commissioned by the then parish priest of Mombello, Fr Ernesto Redaelli who, as a former Salesian of Don Bosco, dedicated it to Mary Help of Christians, honored by the order. Inside the pronaos there is a fresco by Orlando Tommasi depicting Mary Help of Christians and Don Bosco.
