★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Il Marchesato di Saluzzo vide la sua fortuna con l’avvento di Ludovico I (1405-1475), che favorì il rifiorire della cultura, delle arti pittoriche e dell’architettura. La costruzione del complesso di San Bernardino iniziò il 20 agosto 1471 per volere dello stesso Marchese Ludovico I e altri generosi nobili saluzzesi.
Il chiostro del convento fu costruito solo nel 1630, negli stessi anni furono aggiunte anche gran parte delle cappelle laterali a destra. Tra le più interessanti, la cappella dell’Epifania, nella quale siamo accolti da angioletti sorridenti, e la cappella dei Martiri d’Armenia, nella quale possiamo ripercorrere vicende della vita di Sant'Antonio da Padova.
The Marquisate of Saluzzo saw his fortune with the advent of Ludwig I (1405-1475), which favored the revival of culture, pictorial arts and architecture. The construction of the San Bernardino complex began on 20 August 1471 at the behest of the Marquis Ludovico I and other generous noblemen from Saluzzo.
The cloister of the convent was built only in 1630, in the same years a large part of the side chapels on the right were also added. Among the most interesting are the Epiphany chapel, in which we are welcomed by smiling angels, and the Martyrs of Armenia chapel, where we can retrace the events of the life of Saint Anthony of Padua.
