Sa coupole et ses plafonds donnent un témoignage éclatant du baroque génois du 17e siècle. Pour anecdote, cette église fut la première cathédrale de la ville avant le 11e siècle et rend hommage à Saint Siro, premier archevêque de la ville qui aurait soit disant terrassé le fameux serpent imaginaire basilic. Beautiful baroque church of basilical plan. Its fluted columns in pink and white marbles are particularly beautiful. Its cupola and ceilings give a brilliant testimony of the 17th century Genoese baroque. For anecdote, this church was the first cathedral of the city before the 11th century and pays homage to Saint Siro, the first archbishop of the city allegedly to have defeated the famous imaginary snake basilica.
