★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Il Palazzo Wedekind, è sito in piazza colonna al n.366, nel rione III (Colonna).
Dai romani viene anche chiamato “del TEMPO” poiché ospita da un lungo periodo, la sede dell’omonimo quotidiano romano.
L’edificio fu notevolmente ristrutturato nella prima metà del XIX secolo. Molto scenografico il portico con dodici colonne con capitelli ionici (ricavate da un antico edificio romano dagli scavi di Veio eseguiti nei primi anni del XIX secolo).
A memoria di questo avvenimento, lungo tutta l’architrave, vi è la seguente iscrizione latina:
"GREGORIVS XVI PONTIF MAXIM ANNO M DCCCXXXVIII FRONTEM AEDIFICII EXORNANDAM PORTICUM VEIORVM COLVMNIS INSIGNEM ADSTRVENDAM CVRAVIT",
Dove è indicato che il Papa Gregorio XVI nell'anno 1838 fece decorare la facciata del palazzo con le colonne del Portico di Veio.
Sopra l’architrave lungo tutto il piano nobile è posta una balaustra e tutte e 9 le finestre sono incorniciate con lesene e fronton, i quali in modo alternato sono triangolari o curvilinei.
Gli altri due piani più quello attico, hanno invece delle semplici finestre riquadrate; gli angoli sopra il portico sono bugnati.
A coronamento del, palazzo è presente una bella altana con al centro un ornamentale grande orologio, incorniciato nei due lati da due lesene che rappresentano delle figure umane e come modiglioni degli ornamentali animali alati.
Questo Palazzo è una degna cornice della splendida Piazza Colonna.
The Palazzo Wedekind, is located in piazza piazza at No. 366, in the III district (Colonna).
From the Romans it is also called "del TEMPO" because it has been home to the Roman newspaper of the same name for a long time.
The building was considerably renovated in the first half of the 19th century. Very scenic is the portico with twelve columns with Ionic capitals (obtained from an ancient Roman building from the excavations of Veio carried out in the early nineteenth century).
In memory of this event, along the lintel, there is the following Latin inscription:
"GREGORIVS XVI PONTIF MAXIM YEAR M DCCCXXXVIII FRONTEM AEDIFICII EXORNANDAM PORTICUM VEIORVM COLVMNIS INSIGNEM ADSTRVENDAM CVRAVIT",
Where it is indicated that Pope Gregory XVI in the year 1838 had the facade of the palace decorated with the columns of the Portico of Veio.
Above the architrave along the entire noble floor there is a balustrade and all 9 windows are framed with pilasters and frontons, which alternately are triangular or curved.
The other two floors plus the attic, have instead simple boxed windows; the corners above the porch are rusticated.
To crown the palace is a beautiful altana with an ornamental large clock in the center, framed on both sides by two pilasters that represent human figures and as modillions of ornamental winged animals.
This Palace is a worthy setting for the splendid Piazza Colonna.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Ci sono stato ad un convegno per lavoro (sala Angiolillo) e, se visto da fuori è da definire BELLO, dentro lo è pure di più! Stile neoclassico da rimanere a bocca aperta! STU-PEN-DO! Di fronte alla colonna dell'omonima piazza, a fianco di palazzo Chigi, sede dell'inps e di un noto quotidiano, nella centralissima via di Roma.
I have been to a business conference (Angiolillo room) and, if seen from the outside is to be determined BEAUTIFUL, inside it is even more! Neo-Classical to be amazed! STU-PEN-DO! Behind the column of the square, at Chigi Palace side, INPS office and a well-known newspaper, along the street of Rome.
