★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Ospitato in un palazzo seicentesco recentemente ristrutturato offre una panoramica sull'evoluzione storica della Città.
Inizia dalla preistoria sino all'arte contemporanea.
Sono sempre attratta dal "saltaro" che fu il custode e controllore, ben pagato, dei vigneti al tempo della maturazione delle preziose uve. Aveva licenza di uccidere chiunque si avvicinasse alle proprietà. Faceva vita monastica e non dormiva mai.
Il museo contiene comunque tanti tesori che meritano essere visti.

It starts from prehistory to contemporary art.
I am always attracted to the "saltaro" who was the well-paid custodian and controller of the vineyards at the time of the ripening of the precious grapes. He was licensed to kill anyone who approached the properties. He lived monastic life and never slept.
However, the museum contains many treasures that deserve to be seen.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Museo interessante per capire la storia della città dalla preistoria sino agli anni cinquanta. Ottima organizzazione del percorso. Ho trovato molto interessanti i dipinti di Merano attraverso i secoli, la sezione sulle cure fornite ai villeggianti agli inizi del secolo scorso (alcune pericolose nell'uso della radioattività) ed il percorso dedicato alla cura dei defunti. Ho dedicato qualche minuto alla comparazione dei busti di Sissi, da confrontarsi con il monumento di là della strada che lo separa dalla chiesa di S. Spirito. Interessante il connubio tra il vecchio edificio, con la sala centrale con i dipinti originali e le strutture high-tech di supporto. Bella vista dall'alto. Ingresso molto economico.
interesting museum to understand the history of the city from prehistoric times until the fifties. Excellent organization of the route. I found the paintings of Merano through the centuries very interesting, the section on treatments provided to vacationers at the beginning of the last century (some dangerous in the use of radioactivity) and the route dedicated to the care of the dead. I spent a few minutes comparing the busts of Sissi, to be compared with the monument beyond the road that separates it from the church of S. Spirito. The combination of the old building with the central room with the original paintings and the high-tech support structures is interesting. Beautiful top view. Very cheap entry.
