S	Stefano Spannocchi on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ L' Oratorio di Santa Caterina alle ruote bisogna cercarlo con determinazione, nascosto com' e' in una campagna lussureggiante. Ma quando entriamo in questa piccola chiesa isolata rimaniamo a bocca aperta: le pareti ed il soffitto sono interamente ricoperti di bellissimi affreschi tardo gotici conservati benissimo. Attualmente vi e' esposta un bella ed interessante mostra "Donne nell'universo musicale del Cinque e Seicento". Alle pareti prive di affreschi sono esposti gli autoritratti di donne famose. Vi e' anche il ritratto della granduchessa Vittoria della Rovere che lascio' a Firenze tante opere d'arte che oggi vediamo agli Uffizi. La chiesa é affrescata con Storie di Santa Caterina d’Alessandn'a di Spinello Aretino (navate e volta), del Maestro di Barberino (scarsella) e di Piero Nelli (scarsella, lati). ESTATE: La sere estive qui, sono fresche, silenziose e senza inquinamento luminoso. C'è una pala bellissima di Agnolo Gaddi (documentato tra il 1369 e il 1396) Madonna col Bambino e angeli tra i santi Andrea e Lorenzo Nelle cuspidi: Cristo benedicente e Annunciazione L'altare dell'Oratorio di Santa Caterina era ornato in antico da un trittico di Agnolo Gaddi, attualmente conservato nella Galleria degli Uffizi. La copia qui esposta è una fedele riproduzione dell'opera originale che il Gaddi dovette eseguire intorno al 1390 probabilmente per commissione della famiglia fiorentina degli Alberti, patrona dell'Oratorio dedicato a Santa Caterina d'Alessandria. Sulle pareti dell'abside sono rappresentate le storia della principessa Santa.. Agnolo Si visita solo su appuntamento o quando ci sono piccole mostre. Altrimenti è chiusa. La cappella è sconsacrata. I restauri sono stati fatti negli anni '90. Accanto c'è la Locanda Santa Caterina che viene usato per ospitare feste di compleanno, anche di bambini.
