Came in here at Lunch time. Nice local atmosphere, genuinely friendly service. Food local and well produced, pricing moderate. An all together enjoyable experience.

β€œThe staff verbally offended us and refused to give us change back...” Me and my husband visited this restaurant for a dinner. There was a waitress who wasn't absolutely able to spek english but what was the worst she pretended that she understands - so for question what kind of beer they have, she answered Fanta, she didn't know what is tap water,... So we decided for white wine, but they had just red. Ok, no worries, that was still ok. First course wasn't bad, some kind of pasta...(except it flew in oil), maybe quite expensive for half portion - 7 euros. Second meal was the problem - I asked for polenta, before that I told waitress I don't want mash, she told me it is fried... I was really surprised when there was mash in front of me at the table, my husband ordered turkey - no taste, hard meat and again with this mash polenta.... But the BIGGEST surpise when we had the bill - "table service" was counted twice (€4) and we refused to pay for it. The dream show started - the waiter brought a chef and apparently an owner, he said that his "polenta is good for everybody, he was arrogant and offensive. But then he told us o.k. and dissapeared with our money. After 10 minutes when my husbend went there, he told him that there is no money back, than started offending us, pretended to call a police and refused to resolve the issue. He scream and make funny grimases about us. Don't wish to experince this to anybody in lovely Bergamo, don't go there!

I attempted to eat here before I read the reviews. I'm glad that they refused to seat me after reading these. I came by myself and after greeting her in Italian ("bunoa sera", which she seemed confused about) I asked to be seated for one. She refused saying they only seat four, or that their tables only seat four. Either way, I shrugged and left. If they don't want my money I'll give it to someone else.

Stay away from this place. The couple running this place owe us €4 until today. We ordered pasta as a starter, polenta and turkey as a main course and red wine from their English menu. Pasta was ok, but polenta was served completely differently than we ordered (and the waiter confirmed). We found out then that they don't understand English at all... The turkey was not good at all. When we asked for the cheque, we noticed that a "table service" was counted twice (€4) and we refused to pay for it. The waiter brought a chef and apparently an owner, he said that he "polenta is good for anyone else" but he's "ok" with not getting the service fee as a compensation. Then both disappeared with our money. Long story short, when I requested my change back after 10 mins he started offending me and my wife, pretended to call a police and refused to resolve the issue. It's the most frustrating experience of otherwise absolutely amazing trip to Bergamo. Hope you will never experience the same!

Don't set foot into this restaurant. Being an international tourist travelling alone, I was shy to enter the restaurant. I had to wait 10 minutes near the door for the chef(?) to dare ask me what I wanted. It was before 1PM (the restaurant closes at 3PM) and I asked if I could sit for lunch. He said it was impossible, making gestures as if they were too busy... there were only four customers in the restaurant (and I understand why!) He also implied it was too late to ask to have lunch. Not recommended at all.

Really nice couple running the place, music was wonderful, the setting was spectacular, atmosphere excellent and most importantly the food was superb. The portion sizes were rather smallish and the daily menu was a bit short, but the quality of those few dishes and the inexpensive pricing more than made up for it. Certainly not a tourist trap you'd expect in Bergamo old town, but a lovingly tended family restaurant. All in all one of the best places overall I've seen in few trips to Italy.

Fantastic restaurant. Excellent local food at a fair price (15€ for the menu with pasta plus main meat dish). Small, tucked away, well decorated, run by a friendly couple quite happy to chat with the customers. Not very touristy (although funnily enough, all four groups that were there with us were foreign, but also spoke italian). The open wine was quite good (not always the case in many other restaurants). Overall, very happy with this restaurant.

We went to this place because other restaurant around that area were full of people. Didn't expect the food to be this great. Their pasta maybe one of the best i have ever had in italy. we wait very long time for the food but definitly worth it. The owner is also very friendly and the price is reasonable. Beautiful collection of old things in the restaurant
