★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It's a really small museum which you can do in 30 minutes or less. If you don't like really, you can do this in 10 minutes. It's an interesting place if you are into macabre stuff and would be a nice place to fill up an awkward short gap in between touring or eating around the area. The ticket seller is very friendly, and there are English descriptions. Some of the translations are poorly done, but still understandable. The collection of torture devices is quite commendable and they have fake body parts staged on them, especially on those that are hard to picture in your head. You definitely don't need a wild imagination to understand how they used the devices hundreds of years ago.

So if you're ever in Naples, make sure to stop by the museum of torture.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It’s a small museum, that’s expected for the topic. It was very interesting and informative but not for the faint heart. Combination of good illustration and models. Informative on the history of different punishments. Has numerous information with different languages. Very happy I live in the modern day!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This may be the scariest place I've ever visited. Stumbled upon it one night in November 2016. It was one of the few places still open after dark. Reasonable admission price. And there was only one other couple touring the place well ahead of us while we were there. They left halfway through our tour. The exhibits themselves are gruesome and way more detailed than the Tower of London dungeon. But what really frightened me was the vibe of the whole place. They had this one song playing on loop. No variation to the audio throughout the tour. But when my husband and I were in the basement as the last section of the museum, we were the only ones down there at the time. I felt queasy and super on edge. He was reading a description in one corner and I was wandering farther down the room when I swore I heard a woman's high pitched scream. I thought maybe it was part of the background music for a moment, but kept listening and realized it hadn't been a part of the loop the entire time we were there. I asked my husband if he heard it and he didn't know what I was talking about. I felt rushed to leave after that. Honestly, I left there and still felt uneasy for a good 30 minutes before the feelings finally subsided.
So, if you like the macabre? Go visit it for sure!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I'm only giving it 4 starts because I can't bring myself to give 5 starts to human evil.
But extremely educational and GREAT location.
Takes you through a beautiful heart of central Naples with loads to do around it.
Would definitely recommend to those who have an intrigue with the darker side of humanity.
