Le mura in ciottoli di pietra circondavano un tempo l’intero borgo medievale di Rocca San Giovanni, fondato a breve distanza dalla conclusione della cinta fortificata per offrire riparo alle popolazioni del circondario in caso di assedio e testimoniano, infatti, l’antica funzione del paese, una rocca a difesa dell’abbazia di San Giovanni in Venere. I resti sono ben conservati e, visitandoli, si capisce l'importanza che hanno avuto le intere mura nel passato.

Sicuramente una delle attrazioni più suggestive del piccolo borgo. Passeggiare tra gli stretti vicoli della Rocca affiancando le mura e il "torrione" porta il pensiero indietro nel tempo, a quando le mura del castello salvarono più volte la vita degli abati o degli abitanti dalle scorrerie dei pirati.
The medieval walls cover the eastern part of Rocca San Giovanni.
Certainly one of the most suggestive attractions of the small village. Strolling through the narrow alleys of the Rocca alongside the walls and the "tower" takes thought back in time, to when the castle walls saved the lives of the abbots or the inhabitants several times from pirate raids.
