Spesso i tranesi fanno riferimento al molo Santa Lucia come "la terra rossa", tale toponimo popolare deriva dal fatto che tra gli anni ‘40 e ’50, quando il porto era al centro di importanti traffici commerciali, qui veniva stoccata, in grossi cumuli, la bauxite che conferiva al molo una caratteristica colorazione rossa.
