The most characteristic city I saw in Sicily ... Great is the sandwich with the fried fish at the shack in the square

In terms of heritage, the city is rich in interesting monuments, especially the cathedral (Duomo) of Norman architecture reworked in the seventeenth century, the Palace of Steripinto in Catalan style of the fifteenth century, beautiful house with its facade "spikes of diamond "and its medieval corbels, the Porte Saint-Sauveur, arch that mixes baroque and folk art.
The Carnival of Sciacca dates from the nineteenth century. The inhabitants disguise themselves, for example, the day laborer in the count or the lawyer in the peasant. As much as political satire, it also expresses itself through the motives of the chariots parading in the city, the irreverent content of the poems declaimed during the festivities that end with King Peppe Nappa by a profusion of sausages, macaroni and wine.

The mint building is now privately owned and divided into several real estate units. Therefore it cannot be visited in any way and its original destination has also been completely changed. It therefore offers no attraction for the visitor except for the fact that it was, a few centuries ago, the place where coins were minted in the city of Sciacca. Its location is therefore only the sign of the ancient importance of this city.

It is a semi-abandoned square, but has a wonderful Arabian-style facade.
