Per il resto, ha resistito bene al tempo e all'inciviltá umana. È un monumento funebre dove si posavano le urne cinerarie. Secondo la tradizione vi fu sepolta anche Flavia Domitilla, la matrona romana nipote di Vespasiano, perseguitata da Domiziano perché cristiana. La Conocchia può dirsi fra i più significativi monumenti che siano giunti fino a noi conservando "quasi intero" il loro carattere plastico; giacché i notevoli restauri apportati al tempo di Ferdinando IV di Borbone hanno alterato in qualche particolare l'aspetto originario. A	Alessandro Pace on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Una struttura particolare e, se non fosse stato per il nome, non sarei riuscito a capire cosa fosse. Vista per caso verso la fine di settembre 2021, poi ci sono ripassato qualche volta anche di sera. Non ho trovato una indicazione o tabella per capire di cosa si trattava. Altri utenti hanno scritto brevemente, quindi basta cercare qualcosa più dettagliata sul web. Esteticamente sembra in buone condizioni, mai visto all'interno. C'è qualche vegetazione che cresce tra gli interstizi ma è più muschio e licheni. Davvero una struttura particolare, torreggiante con base regolare quadrata e una sorta di colonna o stele circolare. Venendo da Caserta in direzione Santa Maria Capua Vetere si trova a sinistra, qualche chilometro prima della tomba dei gladiatori (anch'essa molto interessante ma mai visitata perché sembra quasi abbandonata). A particular structure and, had it not been for the name, I would not have been able to understand what it was. Seen by chance towards the end of September 2021, then I went back to it sometimes even in the evening. I did not find an indication or table to understand what it was. Other users wrote briefly, so just search for something more detailed on the web. Aesthetically it appears in good condition, never seen inside. There is some vegetation growing between the interstices but it is more moss and lichen. Truly a particular structure, towering with a regular square base and a sort of circular column or stele. Coming from Caserta in the direction of Santa Maria Capua Vetere, it is on the left, a few kilometers before the tomb of the gladiators (also very interesting but never visited because it seems almost abandoned).
