★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Small medieval town much quiter than San Gimignano but with similar look. Moreover Certaldo Alto is the birthplace of Giovanni Boccaccio, one of the italian greatest novelist and friend of Dante Alighieri.
Nice tapas and wine bar such as Enoteca Boccaccio where to have a lunch/dinner or an aperitivo meeting local people.
L antica fonte is also a great place to have the perfect meal..
At Hotel Il Castello there is often live jazz music and other entertainments at sunset.

This little gem of Valdelsa is still authentic: people lives in the narrow streets, old people si outside their front door to chat all together. It's one of my favorite place in the area. Nice also for children because you may take the funicular to go up and down.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Fantastic views in all directions. Nice places to stop for a drink or meal. Long history and lots of signs explaining it. And it is not packed full of tourists like other towns near by. A real gem if you ask me. Take some time to wonder about all the streets, coutryards and lookouts and enjoy. Oh, and the Funicular railway is a bonus from Certraldo to Certraldo alta.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Wonderful hilltop ancient fortress village with great views, shops and really good restaurants. So much less crowded because it is not really on the top tourist sites. But a great place to feel like you are not part of the big tourist crowd
