An incredible place. The most ancient city in Italy.
The unique city of Sassi di Matera is carved into the mountain. Narrow streets, steep ascents and descents, stairs, dwellings in mountain hollows. Everything here is unusual and everything is impressive. Amazing.
It was here that Mel Gibson filmed his film "The Passion of the Christ".
