★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I used to live in Castel Gandolfo, and this place really is the best restaurant in town. The other restaurants on the main street are over priced and cater mostly towards tourists. Lo Spuntino has fresh food made every day in a small and comfortable environment (only about half a dozen tables). Be sure to try the porchetta!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We got there early to avoid lines and got promptly served by the owner. The place is quite small and has a nice looking rustic decoration. We ordered mixed charcuterie for starters and pasta as the main dish. Everything was nicely made and abundant. House wine was also good. Definitely a great option when visiting Castel Gandolfo.

We visited the place since the reviews were great! After waiting for 1 hour our food arrived. My husband and I both ordered truffle pasta - arrived totally overcooked. The truffle was obviously a mix of olives with very little truffle taste coming directly from a jar. The kids were served what looked like 500 gr chicken each that was dry. Service was non existing and wine literally undrinkable. I was wondering how we could be so unlucky when they have so good reviews. When looking a bit more into it, it turned out that most of these reviews are made by local guides- not sure how it works if they get paid etc but there is absolutely no consensus between the reviews and the actual experience. I’d just advise to stay away...

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ they have ourdoor tables overlooking the lake. wild boar sauce pappardelle very flavourful, then had a special strozzapreti with pachino cherry tomatoes sausage arugula and parmigiano. the rabbit had typical home taste of white wine and rosmarin. super service. ok prices.
