★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We used to love coming here. Not anymore. Beija-Flor is located on a beautiful part of the coast, offering great swimming in the bluest water. The vibe used to be easy-going and welcoming, meaning we took the rather inflated price for the rickety beds for granted. The food and drinks have never been great, but we always went up to Barreuco for lunch. Our usual routine these past 3 years was to stop by at the beginning of our holiday, reserve beds for the duration of our stay and enjoy the sea. This year, the place appears to have had a change in management and attitude. In any event, they do not seem to care about returning customers. Perhaps they don’t think we’re cool enough. Since the same EUR 35 per day now not only buys you a newly added, grimy cover for the same old, rickety bed, access to an unclean toilet and sub par food and drink, but also gets you a touch of complete disdain for customers who have provided steady patronage for years, we are not coming back. Not sure what it is they’re trying to do in revamping the place, but it’s not the chilled out stretch by the sea that it used to be.
