L'edificio ha subito nel tempo consistenti lavori e, a partire dal 1729 fu ceduto ai conti Carradori, i cui lavori di sistemazione lo hanno portato all'attuale aspetto dalla facciata settecentesca. La porta principale è sempre aperta e, quasi in segno di accoglienza, invita il passante, sia esso cittadino o turista, ad una visita furtiva del chiostro, dal quale è possibile ammirare uno splendido paesaggio che volge lo sguardo al monte Conero e al territorio circostante.
