It's small, but as someone who thought they had no interest in lace, I happily spent 90 minutes here. There are effective displays of old and modern lace work, along with items on the politics and representation of lace in other art, along with the building's history as a lace school. There is no commercialism at all - no postcards, no shop - which meant that I took dozens of photos of my favourite piece: a 17th Century altar decoration, telling the story of Jesus in a way that only the makers and a few people allowed close to the altar would have seen at the time. An amazing amount of work must have gone into it.

Really nice place with exhibition and lace makers working while you watch. English speaking staff enthusiastically explain the intricate lace making process. We'll be back!

This island is a treasure you shouldn't miss. Beautiful and distinctive. There is a lot of beautiful lace work here as well as a nice place to visit.

Interesting and was part of a package. The island had more to offer than the lace did for me but was good to see and hear about.

Amazing world of such a fine, tiny work! Interesting to see the films and photos showing the old ladies who preserve the centuries' old tradition on the island. Also nice to see that there are children who learn lace making art nowadays - there were laces on theme "save our seas" made by children etc.

They sell tickets for 3pm but close entries at 3:30. They close at 4 and don’t mention the early closure online so if you’re late- you’re locked out.
