Oltre al negozio, piccolo ma ben fornito di specialità, la cucina offre un menù contenuto, ma qualunque cosa scegli non sbagli. Fantastica la carne di chianina al vapore. La signora mi ha dato la ricetta dell'acqua cotta originale della bassa maremma: una squisitezza. Se visitate il borgo meraviglioso di Montemerano non mancate di fermarvi alla Vecchia Dispensa. The owners are super nice, hospitable and generous with advice. In addition to the shop, small but well stocked with specialties, the kitchen offers a contained menu, but whatever you choose is not wrong. The steamed Chianina meat is fantastic. The lady gave me the original cooked water recipe from the lower Maremma: a delicacy. If you visit the wonderful village of Montemerano, do not miss to stop at the Vecchia Dispensa.

Ho bevuto e mangiato così bene da uscire dal negozio con una cassa di vino ed una sporta di prodotti locali, uno più buono dell’altro. Visiting Montemerano satisfies the sight and hearing thanks to its silent and enchanting medieval alleys; La Vecchia Dispensa thinks of pampering the remaining senses: it is a compendium of excellent products, carefully selected by the very kind owners. I drank and ate so well that I left the shop with a case of wine and a bag of local products, each better than the other.

Meriterebbero anche loro le stelle Michelin come il ristorante Caino che si trova di fronte condotta dalla insuperabile chef Valeria Piccini. A real shop of other times where you can find artisan products and taste excellent cutting boards and wines. The owners are kind and hospitable. They would also deserve the Michelin stars like the Caino restaurant that is opposite, led by the unsurpassed chef Valeria Piccini.

Ci siamo tornati qualche giorno dopo perché i bimbi volevano rimangiare il buonissimo spezzatino preparato dalla signora!! Titolari dotati della massima cordialità! Un angolo della Maremma che non potete assolutamente perdervi! Eating and entering this shop in such a fascinating village makes us immerse in a unique atmosphere! Yummy food !! We went back a few days later because the children wanted to eat the delicious stew prepared by the lady !! Owners endowed with the utmost cordiality! A corner of the Maremma that you absolutely cannot miss!

Piccolo negozio dove puoi trovare tutti prodotti di nicchia, dalle marmellate alle visciole, ai ragù di cervo, cinghiale… la ribollita, tanti tipi di pasta e di vini. Ci si può fermare anche per mangiare, noi abbiamo preso delle bruschettine miste ed una burrata con alici che era una poesia, il tutto accompagnato da due calici di morellino di Scansano fantastici! Per finire abbiamo degustato la torta di visciole e la torta di mele più buona della mia vita rigorosamente fatta dalla proprietaria. Invito a visitare sia Montemerano che la vecchia dispensa se ci si trova in Maremma.E’un’esperienza da provare che ti rimane nel cuore. This little gem set in a fairytale hamlet deserves to be visited. Environment of yesteryear such as the courtesy of the owners. Small shop where you can find all niche products, from jams to sour cherries, to venison ragout, wild boar ... ribollita, many types of pasta and wines. You can also stop to eat, we took mixed bruschetta and a burrata with anchovies which was a poem, all accompanied by two fantastic glasses of Morellino di Scansano! Finally we tasted the sour cherry pie and the best apple pie of my life rigorously made by the owner. I invite you to visit both Montemerano and the old pantry if you are in Maremma. It is an experience to try that stays in your heart.
