★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very far from its motto, I would describe this as almost a nouvelle cuisine place. In Bologna (my birthplace!) and environs I usually prefer the great though fattening classic cuisine (since I only visit 1-2 weeks a year!) so I was not really happy with this fancier, pricier place.
(Answering to the owner's reply as to why I did not enquire about the menu in advance: my grown-up daughter and her husband live less than 100m away from this restaurant, and I was visiting them when they invited me to dine there - it would seem rude to me to fail to accept such a short walk to a place with a motto of "down home cooking", it's just that the motto fails to describe the "nouvelle cuisine" ambiance and pricing -- they may be fine for some, just not the preferred choice for me!).

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Hidden beauty. We made an unplanned stop at a nearby hotel. They recommended this place and thank you for that.
All food was well prepared. Had some pasta ravioli filled with mushroom and caramelized onions. And the dessert was even more amazing. I really recommend this place. Hidden out in the nowhere.
