Immaginate di entrare nel tinello di una casa napoletana: dalla credenza in legno scuro sono stati presi i bicchieri per apparecchiare la tavola per la cena. Alle pareti qualche piatto ornamentale e qualche oggetto di un passato recente o lontano, non importa. Un grande lampadario in rame illumina le pareti che vi avvolgono con il calore familiare. Vi sedete a tavola e non vi nutrite, ma cenate (e la differenza non è poca). Tutto questo è "La Scalinatella", una decina di tavoli, non di più, un proprietario gentilissimo, mai invadente, che sa consigliare e che non manca di fermarsi a raccontare e a scambiare due chiacchere con voi. Non cercate l'elaborazione di un piatto, aspettatevi invece materie prime scelte con cura ed assemblate come da tradizione. Ho assaggiato un ottimo spaghettone con sugo di pomodorini e polipetti (di cui mi scuso, ma non ricordo il nome), e provato di secondo la polpetta napoletana con carne, mollica di pane, pinoli e sugo di pomodoro. Vino della casa, acqua, dolce, caffè e l'immancabile limoncello. Il tutto 35 euro. Per una sera la frenesia è rimasta fuoridalla porta
Imagine entering the dining room of a Neapolitan house: glasses were taken from the dark wood sideboard to set the table for dinner. On the walls, a few ornamental plates and some objects from a recent or distant past do not matter. A large copper chandelier illuminates the walls that surround you with family warmth. You sit at the table and don't eat, but have dinner (and the difference is not small). All this is "La Scalinatella", a dozen tables, no more, a very kind owner, never intrusive, who knows how to advise and who never fails to stop and tell and exchange a chat with you. Don't look for the elaboration of a dish, instead expect raw materials carefully chosen and assembled according to tradition. I tasted an excellent spaghetti with tomato sauce and baby octopus (which I apologize for, but I can't remember the name), and tried the Neapolitan meatball with bread, breadcrumbs, pine nuts and tomato sauce. House wine, water, dessert, coffee and the ever-present limoncello. The whole 35 euros. For one night the frenzy remained outside the door

Posto intimo con personale molto gentile, siamo arrivati tardi in serata ma ci hanno fatto accomodare comunque. Abbiamo preso quello che ci ha proposto il padrone del locale (per la verità scelta quasi obbligata per data l'insistenza del signore). Tutto molto buono. Primo, secondo e vino circa 25€ a testa.
Intimate place with very nice staff, we arrived late in the evening but they made us sit anyway. We took what the owner of the restaurant proposed to us (in truth, almost obligatory because of the insistence of the gentleman). All very good. First course, second course and wine about € 25 each.

Locale molto grazioso ed il proprietario Massimo è una persona squisita, ti mette subito a tuo agio facendoti sentire a casa, di buona compagnia ed onesto in tutto anche nel prezzo...Lo consiglio vivamente, per trascorrere serate relax gustando piatti tipici preparati alla genuina ..
Very nice place and the owner Massimo is an exquisite person, he immediately puts you at ease making you feel at home, in good company and honest in everything even in the price ... I highly recommend it, to spend relaxing evenings enjoying typical dishes prepared to the genuine ..

We were suggested by a taxi driver to try this place while going towards the city centre and I highly recommend it. We are italian and this place is a very italian experience. I recommend you to follow the suggestions of the owner and the waitress. We tried aubergines with a tomato and mozzarella sauce as well and small crocchette and arancini as antipasti. This was followed by delicious fusilli and ravioli as main, and a Capri cake as grand finale ? the red wine suggested by the owner was the best we had during our stay in Campania. The atmosphere in the restaurant is warm and cosy and it's NOT expensive at all. It's the kind of place you'd like to come back one day...

Excellent restaurant: great food (particularly seafood), reasonable prices, and the owner is very friendly. We ate there on a visit in May, and I had been there the year before. We had spaghettone a la Cetara and paccheri al baccalà: ample portions, well-prepared, tasty. We also had the grilled squid and orata; last year I had the fried anchovies: all were excellent. It’s a comfortable setting; the meal is well-paced; and the owner will recommend specials and advise about the dishes.
