The construction site is well underway and soon the building will begin to emerge from the street level and grow fast to reach the expected 120 meters high or so. In that position and in the context of the district a taller skyscraper would have been good but the urban constraints do not allow it. The project is promising but it is impossible at the moment to judge from the renderings what the real final result will be. Let's wait :-)

GIOIA 22 - Porta Nuova, the tower of the new generation. The tower, which will be built on the site of the former INPS building on Via Melchiorre Gioia 22. COIMA begins a new stage in the development of the Porta Nuova district so that Milan can claim the title of European innovation laboratory in the development of the territory. The building has 26 floors, 120 meters above the ground and another 4 underground floors. With a total area of ​​68,432 square meters, it is characterized by unprecedented standards of technological innovation and environmental friendliness. GIOIA 22 will receive the LEED certification, apply the Cradle to Cradle approach to the selection of materials, limit energy consumption through the implementation of the most effective advanced construction methods and will be equipped with green spaces. The tower will be built on the site of the former INPS building on Via Melchiorre Gioia 22, consisting of eighteen floors above ground and three underground floors with a total area of ​​40,000 square meters, built in 1961 and decommissioned since 2012. Completion is expected by 2020. Gioia 22 will have more than 6000 sq.m. photovoltaic panels, which will reduce energy requirements by 75% compared with the latest skyscrapers present in Milan, which is a record for a building of this type that allows it to meet the standard with almost zero energy consumption in the building. The annual reduction in carbon dioxide emissions achieved by GIOIA 22 compared to the previous building is 2,260 tons, which is equivalent to the absorption of CO2 per 10 ha of forest (4,500 trees). Thanks to the integration of bicycle paths, pedestrian zones, green areas and common areas, the tower meets the requirement that more and more meets the needs of the new generation of green transport, focused on a healthy and environmentally friendly lifestyle. The interaction between internal and external space, private and open to the public, allows you to work and relax at the same time.
