★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Squares always have been centres of commerce and activity in cities, and it's no different today in Naples. The staff is clearly on the outlook for guests, ushering us to pick a seat wherever it's available. Immediately, language becomes an issue and I end up speaking French for reasons unknown. My partner draws the short end of this mix-up and gets served iced tea instead of breakfast tea. My espresso is hot and strong. The multigrain croissants are excellent to start off our day, as is the plate of eggs and bacon. The toasted bread that's served along the proteins isn't anything great, but it works as a vessel to get the food into our mouths.
The overall experience is fine, if nothing special nor amazing. I'm already glad to have found a place where breakfast isn't an espresso and some pastry to go, but encourages you to sit down and look at the square while you contemplate the rest of your day.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Sadly, this place is s big ripoff.
We thought we were in Leone D' Oro and realized we were not as we were being seated. The amiable waiter, Emmanule, convinced us to stay with the line, "you buy an aperitif and we will provide you some snacks"
He brought a bowl of peanuts and then asked if he could bring us some antipasti. We accepted his gracious (?) offer.
Cut to the chase, we were charged 20 euro for what we thought was a complimentary antipasti.
Avoid this place like the COVID plague!!!
Caveat emptor.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Before sitting down I asked the waiter if they had any vegan options and he quickly said "yeah no problem". So I felt good about the place... only to be disappointed.
They only had a plain croissant and a vegan cake - no other food. Then I ordered the above (as that's all I could get) about 10 minutes in I was told they're out of plain croissants and I was served the cake with cream. I'm pretty sure the cream wasn't vegan and at that point I was doubting whether the cake was vegan... who knows. It was very tasty.
I get it, it's not a vegan restaurant/cafe but if you're out of vegan stuff you should just say so...
They also tried to charge us for a bottle of water which never arrived.
The place had a tourist trap vibe.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Had lunch here today with my brother and sister-in-law. The place is charming and homey. The proprietors very friendly. The food was a welcome surprise, not the usual fare. I had gnocchi stuffed with cod with a sauce made from the local friarielli, which is greens somewhat related to broccolini. It was different, light and tasty. My sister in law had a fresh pea soup. The freshness of the peas was quite evident. My brother had pasta with Bolognese, a more traditional pasta, which he enjoyed very much. If one is in the Dante Square of Naples, this is a must try.
