This is a very attractive restaurant a couple of miniutes walk from the Piazza del We (two couples) had a midweek lunch at this attractive restaurant a couple of minutes’ walk from the Piazza del Popolo in the centre of Ascoli.
It is clearly aiming to provide a fine dining experience. It has a good atmosphere, it is well presented and the staff are polite and helpful. Whilst most of the food was good it is far from exceptional. Two pasta dishes were interesting and well cooked but the maccheroncini al ragu was distinctly average. The tiramisu al fragole was a good take on a classic dessert but the semifreddo was a disaster as our friend ended up picking a hair out of her mouth that had been lost into her dessert during the preparation. The staff did apologise but their response was rather underwhelming – naturally we did not pay for that dessert but it would have been nice (for example) to have offered the glass of wine our friend had drunk as being complementary.
In summary, average for what it aims to be and so would have justified three stars but the hair in the food was unacceptable and so a two star rating is all that can be given.
Expensive for the standard of food on offer - four primi, three desserts and one glass of wine came to an excessive €100

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Hear me out: this is a wonderful restaurant that deserves a detour to Ascoli Piceno from wherever you are in the surroundings if not even a trip. Everything we had was nothing less than spectactular, starting from the ricciola ceviche with peaches, thyme and lemon, the typical deep-fried starters "Ascoli-style", the tagliatelle with truffle and "ciauscolo" (kind of an Italian rillette) served in a smoking bell and the amazing ravioli with apples, mascarpone and walnut. Great wine list, really nice environment, perfect service and presentation, prices ludicrously low for the quality: this was probably our best restaurant meal in a couple of years. I'd be curious to try their teppanyaki-style "desco" experience: probably worth another trip!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We were recommended Desco by our hotel and they did not disappoint. One of the more upmarket restaurants in Ascoli Piceno with beautiful decor inside. Fabulous service and a great menu selection and the best pasta so far. Washed down with our favourite preseco Bellavista topped off a great meal. Highly recommended and make sure you book as seating outside is limited yet inside is beautiful.
