Nice building but we were quickly worked outside by the not so friendly lady without much explanation. Unfortunately. Receive money quickly but no return.

La forma è quella di una tartaruga creata partendo dall'unione di due edifici esistenti. Oggi è visitabile grazie all'encomiabile attività della Pro Loco locale, alcuni volontari accompagnano alla scoperta della vicende riguardanti la rocca e la sua storia, da non dimenticare che durante la seconda guerra mondiale la rocca è stata usata come rifugio per opere d'arte provenienti da varie parti d'Italia (si dice 6000) che altrimenti avrebbero rischiato di essere trafugate o ancor peggio essere distrutte. Se siete in zona una visita è raccomandata! We came across it a bit by chance, the fortress is a splendid unicum, in terms of design and history, of a Renaissance fortress. The shape is that of a turtle created from the union of two existing buildings. Today it can be visited thanks to the commendable activity of the local Pro Loco, some volunteers accompany the discovery of the events concerning the fortress and its history, not to forget that during the Second World War the fortress was used as a refuge for works of art from from various parts of Italy (it is said 6000) which otherwise would have risked being stolen or even worse be destroyed. If you are in the area a visit is recommended!
A	Angelo Bertocchi on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ La rocca e' situata nel centro del borgo, posto su un colle che domina la valle del fiume Foglia. Fu costruita intorno al 1475 su progetto dell'architetto senese Francesco di Giorgio Martini. La rocca e' a forma di una tartaruga realizzata con pietre e mattoni, sinuosa e tondeggiante per rendere difficoltoso l'attacco drlle nuove arme: le bombarde. Nel salone d'onore e' stata realizzato nel secolo XVIII un gioiello di teatro con balconate e palco centrale decorati dal pittore locale Enrico Mancini seguendo un'impronta neoclassica. Durante la seconda guerra mondiale (1943-1944) furono nascoste circa 10.000 opere provenienti da musuei di Venezia e dalle Marche. Cio' fu possibile per l'impegno profuso dal Sovraintendente alle belle arti delle Marche. Per queso fatto la rocca e' chiamata anche l'arca delle arti. Nelle sale della rocca sono esposte e si possono ammirare copie delle piu' importanti opere salvate durante il periodo della guerra. The fortress is located in the center of the village, on a hill overlooking the valley of the Foglia river. It was built around 1475 on a project by the Sienese architect Francesco di Giorgio Martini. The fortress is shaped like a turtle made with stones and bricks, sinuous and rounded to make it difficult to attack the new weapons: the bombards. In the hall of honor a theater jewel was created in the 18th century with balconies and central stage decorated by the local painter Enrico Mancini following a neoclassical style. During the Second World War (1943-1944) about 10,000 works from museums in Venice and the Marche were hidden. This was possible due to the efforts made by the Superintendent of Fine Arts of the Marche. For this reason the fortress is also called the ark of the arts. In the rooms of the fortress are exhibited and you can admire copies of the most important works saved during the war period.
M	Marco on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ La rocca ubaldinesca di Sassocorvaro è una delle tante opere pensate dall'architetto toscano Francesco di Giorgio Martini. Famosa per la sua forma a testuggine e utilizzata anche durante la seconda guerra mondiale per "l'arca dell'arte": grazie al signor Pasquale Rotondi, soprintendente delle belle arti all'epoca, circa 6000 opere d'arte vennero trasferite al suo interno per paura che lasciandole all'interno di musei di importanti città fossero troppo esposte a rischi di furti o bombardamenti. Oggi è visitabile con tour guidati con ottime guide della proloco del paese, la visita dura poco più di un'ora. Ottima occasione per scoprire molte curiosità soprattutto sulla famiglia dei Montefeltro. Purtroppo l'interno della rocca ha subito molte opere di ammodernamento non conservando quel fascino storico che ci si aspetterebbe da fuori. Merita una visita!! Famous for its tortoise shape and also used during the Second World War for the "ark of the art": thanks to Mr. Pasquale Rotondi, superintendent of fine arts at the time, about 6000 works of art were transferred to it for fear that leaving them in museums of important cities were too exposed to the risk of theft or bombing. Today it can be visited with guided tours with excellent guides of the country's proloco, the visit lasts just over an hour. Excellent opportunity to discover many curiosities especially on the Montefeltro family. Unfortunately, the inside of the fortress has undergone many modernization works not preserving the historical charm that one would expect from outside. Worth a visit !!
