I really enjoyed my experience working with the ladies at this Hertz location. If you are traveling from out of town, i.e. the States, make sure you understand that they close between 12:30 and 2:30 so if your are late for your noon pick-up time you might as well find a bar or cafe close and have a rest until 2:30 so they can take care of you then.

Our vehicle was by 2 weeks in advance prebooked, prepaid online, all that remained was to hand over the key and point out the vehicle. 2 ques, 4 customers.... The whole affair took an hour and a half. With 2 counters and 2 employees. Everything was done with manual paperwork and the VAT calculation took another 20 minutes. We were fortunate to arrive in the morning shift, as these ladies were in a rush to close for lunch and siesta. Do not come for the 14:30 shift. They were very friendly and the other 3 locals in the que seemed to have thoroughly enjoyed the service. I recommend to come early and book as much electronically in advance.

I wish I had read reviews before booking and pre-paying for a car at this place. They are awful. We arrived to find about 8-10 other families and couples also waiting to get their reserved cars only for all of us to be told, β€œEh we did our best but we have no cars. Line up so we can cancel your reservation.” There were many irate people who had also pre-paid. We got the impression this happens often and the 2 women working the desk couldn’t have cared less. When we asked what cars might be available at nearby locations (Pisa airport an hour away) they didn’t know and said Pisa office doesn’t answer their phone. She told all of us that her manager would be back in the office in a couple days to refund everyone’s money who had pre-paid. People asked for compensation for train tickets, taxi fare etc. She agreed to all of it, saying oh yes, her manager will do that in a couple of days. Riiiiiight! She then scratched our names off a clipboard and said she was closing for lunch at 12:30pm. Arrivederci, suckers! Fast forward to almost 2 weeks later, my prepaid charge is still on my credit card. After 4 calls to Hertz customer service with long hold times, disconnections, useless people working their phones and emails that received automated responses, I finally gave up and called my credit card company who is reversing the charges. Hertz has lost my business forever, not that they care. If you really need a car rental in the Cinque Terre area, call Sixt car rental. They’re a German company who helped us when Hertz couldn’t have cared less.

Absolutely the worst drop off ever in 45 years! The woman in the agency was absolutely worthless. She would not call a taxi and would not give us anywhere to park. Told us use the key drop. After waiting substantial time trying to reach the taxi service my wife asked her to call as we kept getting no taxi in the area. The gas station next door would not take my CC and did not give change. 12 euros of gas cost 20. Overall my worst experience ever. Hertz should be ashamed!

We booked our car rental online for 10:30am only to wait over 1 hour to learn the car we had booked was unavailable. We reserved a small manual car, but only large automatic cars were available. The location was filled with frustrated customers because they all had similar experiences. The 2 staff members didn't seem to rush or care too much about our concerns. We wasted several hours of our vacation due to their company's poor organization and lack of staff available to help the volume of customers waiting for their vehicles. This is one of the few car rental places in a high tourist location, it is ridiculous that Hertz only had 2 staff members working on a Saturday in the middle of July!

Very efficient rental workers here, had us checked in and on our way in no time. Upgraded us to a larger more comfortable car with automatic transmission and diesel. Good ride plus plenty room for luggage and shopping. Easy and quick check in at the Rome airport . We always use Hertz at home and vacation. They never disappoint us. Thanks to everyone at Hertz.

Had to drop off a car here and pick one up a few days later. The ladies at the desk were great. Very friendly and nice. Spoke great English too. I thought renting a vehicle in Italy would have been more difficult but they made it super easy. They seem like they’re highly focused on catering to tourists which was awesome. Thank you Hertz

The staff themselves were lovely. Just not enough of them. The line was out the door and it was 40 minutes to an hour to get from door to counter. Vehicles were being sent out without being washed and fuelled up as the two staff members were just incredibly busy working the counter processing paperwork. Not the worst experience I have ever had but also far from the best. Allow plenty of time - even with internet booking.
