★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Un lungo solco porta all'imbocco della caverna, nella quale è stato eseguito un vasto e profondo scavo archeologico, ora abbandonato. Si scende lungo una traccia di sentiero interrotta da qualche gradino, e si incontra sulla sinistra un enorme accumulo di pietrame arginato da rudimentali muretti. Superata l'ampia fossa ingombra di enormi massi, si raggiunge l'ingresso di un caratteristico cunicolo, quasi del tutto ostruito dal materiale di riporto ammassatovi davanti. Esso si interna per circa 30m con pendenza costante e, nella parte terminale, il suolo diviene argilloso e vi è un piccolo scoscendimento, dopo il quale le dimensioni del passaggio si riducono progressivamente, fino ad impedire l'avanzata.
La cavità è un bellissimo esempio di inghiottitoio diretto, ridotto alle modeste proporzioni attuali da potentissimi depositi di argille e detriti, ed è inoltre probabile una sua antica relazione con la non lontana Grotta della Fornace (731/3913VG).
A long furrow leads to the entrance of the cave, in which a vast and deep archaeological excavation was carried out, now abandoned. You go down along a trace of the path interrupted by a few steps, and on the left you meet an enormous accumulation of stones embanked by rudimentary walls. After passing the wide pit filled with enormous boulders, you reach the entrance to a characteristic tunnel, almost completely obstructed by the material piled up in front of it. It is inside for about 30m with a constant slope and, in the final part, the soil becomes clayey and there is a small slope, after which the dimensions of the passage are progressively reduced, up to preventing the advance.
The cavity is a beautiful example of a direct sinkhole, reduced to its current modest proportions by very powerful deposits of clays and debris, and it is also likely an ancient relationship with the nearby Grotta della Fornace (731 / 3913VG).
