Il "confine" tra il comune di Trieste e comune di Duino Aurisina è la strada provinciale, la colonna si sinistra,se si proviene da Santa Croce, appartiene al comune di Trieste, mentre quella di destra al comune di Duino Aurisina.
They are located on the road between Aurisina and Santa Croce, they are made of marble. They were built for the Emperor Franz of Austria. The "border" between the municipality of Trieste and the municipality of Duino Aurisina is the provincial road, the left column, if you come from Santa Croce, belongs to the municipality of Trieste, while the one on the right belongs to the municipality of Duino Aurisina.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Le colonne furono erette in onore dell’imperatore Francesco I d’Austria, che il 30 aprile 1816 transitò per Aurisina nel suo viaggio da Gorizia verso Trieste. Nel secondo dopoguerra, una colonna fu spostata dai militari alleati per permettere l’allargamento della strada; nel 2006 una colonna fu abbattuta da un incidente stradale. Curiosamente, poiché il confine tra i comuni di Trieste ed Aurisina corre lungo la strada provinciale, la colonna di sinistra (per chi proviene da Santa Croce) appartiene al Comune di Trieste, mentre quella di destra appartiene invece al Comune di Duino Aurisina.
The columns were erected in honor of Emperor Francis I of Austria, who on 30 April 1816 passed through Aurisina on his journey from Gorizia to Trieste. After the Second World War, a column was moved by the allied military to allow the widening of the road; in 2006 a column was knocked down by a road accident. Curiously, since the border between the municipalities of Trieste and Aurisina runs along the provincial road, the left column (for those coming from Santa Croce) belongs to the Municipality of Trieste, while the one on the right belongs to the Municipality of Duino Aurisina.
