The Germanic Monumental Cemetery dedicated to the German soldiers who fell during the Second World War is easily accessible from the Bardia or Firenzuola motorway exits. Regardless of the political ideologies that distinguish us, if you come here it is only to devote some of our time to these people who rest in peace.

Wonderful place, a combination of sadness and reflection. The Germanic cemetery occupies an area of ββabout 12 hectares at 950 m halfway between Florence and Bologna, and develops along the mountain slopes. The cemetery was inaugurated in 1969 and houses 30,683 bodies, from 2,069 Italian municipalities.

Thanks to the name books, we found our great-grandfather very quickly, and everything is well taken care of. The place makes you very thoughtful because of the number of dead.
This is definitely going to be a trip.

I didn't expect there to be such an important cemetery in our mountains. Scenic and with a strong impact, to visit even just for the place itself. Then if you look at the numbers you understand what a tragedy the Second World War was. Not to forget!

Wonderful work of cemetery architecture. One of the most peaceful places I have visited. If I were to die in the war it would relieve me to know I could rest in such a place.

β β β β β During World War II the Futa Pass was part of the Gothic Line. A German military cemetery was created nearby in the 1950s.

β β β β β Beautifully maintained cemetery complex in the area of Gothic Line combat. Not in a location you're likely to be driving past, but if you're interested in this history, seek it out.
