★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Un luogo storico di Palermo, la statua del XVI secolo è la personificazione di Palermo, un vecchio barbuto incoronato e ricoperto di mantello. Tra le sue braccia un serpente che si nutre al suo petto.
Durante le rivolte del 1820 e del 1848, il popolo si riuniva qui per protestare, allora la statua venne rimossa e portata nei magazzini della Chiesa dello Spasimo.
Ma con l' entrata di Garibaldi venne rimessa al suo posto.
Da allora la piazza è chiamata Piazza della Rivoluzione. Oggi è una zona piena di ristoranti, e pub, e la sera è piena di gente che discute e mangia qualcosa.
Recentemente, a maggio 2019, la fontana è stata riaperta dopo un intervento di restauro finanziato da Coop Sicilia.
 A historical place in Palermo, the 16th century statue is the personification of Palermo, a bearded old man crowned and cloaked. In his arms a snake that feeds on his chest.
During the revolts of 1820 and 1848, the people gathered here to protest, then the statue was removed and taken to the warehouses of the Spasimo Church.
But with the entry of Garibaldi it was put back in its place.
Since then the square has been called Revolution Square. Today it is an area full of restaurants and pubs, and in the evening it is full of people talking and eating something.
Recently, in May 2019, the fountain was reopened after a restoration project funded by Coop Sicilia.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Questo è decisamente un gioco piacevole da fare mentre si gira tra le strade della città: scovare le raffigurazioni del Genio di Palermo col suo serpente annidato sul petto. E questa statua ha anche il pregio di dare il nome al Museo delle Maioliche poco distante e assolutamente da visitare.
This is definitely a pleasant game to play while wandering through the streets of the city: find the depictions of the Genius of Palermo with his snake nestled on his chest. And this statue also has the advantage of giving its name to the Museum of Majolica not far away and absolutely worth visiting.
