Lovely and kept very well! A nice place for a moment of reflection.

I was favorably impressed by the cleanliness of the places and maintenance. Not so much from the division of the cemetery into Catholics and Muslims; for "the level of Toto '" we are all the same

Serve Peace - I discovered this Shrine, dedicated to the French soldiers who fell in the Italian Campaign of the Second World War, by a fortuitous word of mouth. And I know of no lesser known, less visited, less rhetorical memorial place than this one and at the same time more worthy of being known and yet kept in its secrecy. It can be reached, in via dei Casali di S. Spirito n. 70, going up the busy Via della Camilluccia. And from the entrance one cannot imagine what a secluded place of reflection and calm will welcome us. You can walk or sit to meditate or read or just be with yourself. Feeling not to disturb the sacred memory of the fallen, but rather to share with them a state of intimate serenity. One feels, quite naturally, that here the dead justify the living. And the living, the dead. From this slope of Monte Mario you can dominate a good part of Rome. In the foreground the Foro Italico and the Tiber. Along the gentle green terraces, softly designed after the war by the landscape architects M.Teresa Parpagliolo and Elena Luzzatto, the fallen find their usual alignment of soldiers in the cadenced whiteness of the crosses and crescent-shaped stems, standing out against the variegated Mediterranean green. Names and date of death are small, almost secondary details. It is surprising how, among one thousand seven hundred bloody deaths, people like to stop and linger. Or maybe not: because here they visibly rest in peace.
