È soprannominata la Città degli Imperiali in onore dei principi Imperiali che governarono la città ininterrottamente per circa due secoli, portando il feudo all'apice della potenza. Francavilla Fontana divenne in quel periodo uno dei maggiori centri culturali e industriali dell'area.
La città è situata nella penisola salentina, lungo l'antico tracciato della via Appia, ed è il terzo comune più popoloso della provincia.
Importante centro agricolo, artigianale, industriale e commerciale, ed è sede della Fiera Nazionale dell'Ascensione, terzo polo fieristico regionale dopo Bari e Foggia. Nel 2009 ha ottenuto dalla Regione Puglia il riconoscimento di "città d'arte". Molto ben tenuti il Castello Imperiali e i tanti palazzi antichi della città. Belle e interessanti le tante chiese da visitare, a cominciare dalla Basilica minore del Santissimo Rosario, la Chiesa dei Padri Liguorini, la Chiesa di Santa Chiara e tante altre. Consigliata una visita a chi si trova in zona.
Francavilla Fontana is an Italian town in the province of Brindisi in Puglia. It is nicknamed the City of the Imperials in honor of the Imperial princes who ruled the city uninterruptedly for about two centuries, bringing the fiefdom to the pinnacle of power. Francavilla Fontana became in that period one of the major cultural and industrial centers of the area.
The city is located in the Salento peninsula, along the ancient route of the Via Appia, and is the third most populous municipality in the province.
Important agricultural, handicraft, industrial and commercial center, and is home to the National Ascension Fair, the third regional exhibition center after Bari and Foggia. In 2009 it obtained the recognition of "city of art" from the Puglia Region. The Imperial Castle and the many ancient buildings of the city are very well kept. The many churches to visit are beautiful and interesting, starting with the minor Basilica of the Santissimo Rosario, the Church of the Liguorini Fathers, the Church of Santa Chiara and many others. A visit is recommended for those in the area.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ È uno dei comuni più grandi ed importanti della provincia di Brindisi, il paese ha tante potenzialità con un bel centro storico e la famosa chiesa matrice che vanta la cupola più alta dell'area salentina. Altrettanto bello è il palazzo degli Imperiali, sede del municipio del paese, divenuto da qualche anno anche museo archeologico. Tante le attività commerciali per le vie più importanti del paese, altro fiore all'occhiello è la rinomata zona industriale con presenza d'aziende molto valide che garantiscono occupazione e sviluppo del territorio.

It is one of the largest and most important municipalities in the province of Brindisi, the town has a lot of potential with a beautiful historic center and the famous matrix church which boasts the highest dome in the Salento area. Equally beautiful is the Palazzo degli Imperiali, seat of the town hall, which in recent years has also become an archaeological museum. There are many commercial activities on the most important streets of the town, another flagship is the renowned industrial area with the presence of very valid companies that guarantee employment and development of the territory.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Off the beaten track but so many things to see in this little village. Just wander and have a drink :) and visit one of the many churches. The square hosts a modern bar (Bar Giba) with good (also vegetarian) foods
