Cittadina ad alta vocazione turistica situata nella incantevole Costa dei Trabocchi.Dispone di un buon Distretto Sanitario che ,nonostante i tagli generali alla ASL ,ha visto l'incremento di talune attività sanitarie molto importanti ed apprezzate dalla popolazione.Va detto che,in questo, lo "storico"sindaco Di Giuseppantonio, ha certamente i suoi meriti. La cittadina è anche sede provinciale del Servizio Assistenza Stranieri Immigrati della ASL 2 Abruzzo, servizio che ha la supervisione Socio Sanitaria dei circa 27 Centri di Accoglienza Immigrati,distribuiti sul territorio provinciale.Di rilievo la manifestazione "Sapori a Palazzo" organizzata dalla associazione Itaca e dalla locale Pro Loco.Di rara bellezza l'Abbazia di san Giovanni in Venere capolavoro di stile Romanico edificata su un antico tempio dedicato alla Dea della Bellezza.
