★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Arrivati a Manciano dopo una lunga camminata, abbiamo incontrato x caso il Sindaco, disponibile ci ha permesso di visitare la torre del comune, da buon primo cittadino ci ha consigliato paesini da visitare e zone turistiche da vedere e un ottima trattoria x la cena. Rimarrà un bel ricordo della nostra villeggiatura in Maremma.
Arrived in Manciano after a long walk, we met the mayor, who was available to us, allowed us to visit the tower of the town, as a good citizen he advised small towns to visit and tourist areas to see and an excellent restaurant for dinner. It will remain a beautiful memory of our holiday in Maremma.

I wanted to congratulate the municipality site where you can't figure out who to contact there is no name of the managers and some of those who are there are no longer in service!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ L'edificio che oggi possiamo ammirare - e che è comunemente chiamato "Il Cassero" - risale alla metà del 1700 quando i granduchi di Toscana ristrutturarono una precedente fortificazione costruita nel XII secolo sotto la signoria degli Aldobrandeschi, poi modificata nel 1400 dal Comune di Siena e lasciata cadere in rovina sotto i Medici.
Danneggiato da un furioso incendio nel 1902 il Cassero ha vissuto un'ulteriore primavera nel 1935 quando la sopraelevazione della torre gli ha conferito un aspetto ancora più imponente.
Essendo sede degli uffici comunali non sempre è visitabile.
Grandioso il panorama che si gode dalla torre.
The building we can admire today - and which is commonly called "Il Cassero" - dates back to the mid-1700s when the Grand Dukes of Tuscany restructured a previous fortification built in the XII century under the rule of the Aldobrandeschi family, then modified in 1400 by the Municipality of Siena and left to fall under the Medici.
Damaged by a furious fire in 1902, the Cassero lived a further spring in 1935 when the elevation of the tower gave it an even more imposing appearance.
Being the seat of the municipal offices it is not always open to visitors.
The view from the tower is magnificent.
