★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Luogo molto suggestivo e con una vista panoramica stupenda, purtroppo nessuna amministrazione ha mai tentato né pensato di riqualificarlo, lasciato all'incuria e ai vandali che ne hanno bruciato buona parte. Non è raro trovare auto abbandonate o cumuli di immondizia. NON CI ANDATE MAI DA SOLI oltre a essere pericoloso per via dei mille pericoli costituiti da detriti e immondizia si potrebbero fare brutti incontri.
Il forte Crispi, o batteria Minaia, sorge in zona Portella Arena, a campo Italia. Si trova in una posizione tra le più strategiche, e per questo era una delle più fortificate ed armate in assoluto.
Svolgeva il duro lavoro di controllare sia l’ingresso nord dello stretto, sia il porto, spaziando anche per tutto lo stretto da nord a sud. La forma trapezoidale simmetrica e le dimensioni contenute, risultano quelle standard, tipiche della maggior parte delle batterie Umbertine.
Il forte è poco distante da altre note fortificazione messinesi, forti Masotto e Serra la Croce. Con esse ha condiviso gli eventi tragici dei bombardamenti Angloamericani riportando ingentissimi danni.
