★ ★ ★ ★ ★ È un antico monastero fatto costruire, nel 1180, da Tancredi, conte di Lecce, per l' Ordine di San Benedetto, insieme alla chiesa dedicata ai SS Nicolò e Cataldo. Nel 1494, per ordine di Ferrante II, gli Olivetani subentrarono ai benedettini avviando una serie di interventi di ampliamento. Nel 1842 il titolo passò ai Cappuccini. Nel 1870 il monastero fu trasformato in ospizio e , dopo decenni di decadenza, fu acquistato dall'Università di Lecce e restaurato. Oggi è sede del dipartimento di Beni culturali dell' Università del Salento.
It is an ancient monastery built in 1180 by Tancredi, count of Lecce, for the Order of San Benedetto, together with the church dedicated to the Saints Nicolò and Cataldo. In 1494, by order of Ferrante II, the Olivetans took over from the Benedictines, initiating a series of expansion interventions. In 1842 the title passed to the Capuchins. In 1870 the monastery was transformed into a hospice and, after decades of decline, it was purchased by the University of Lecce and restored. Today it is home to the Department of Cultural Heritage of the University of Salento.
