★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Piccole curiosità sulla Fontana | La linea ferroviaria Roma-Sulmona, inaugurata nel 1888, comprese una serie di lavori tra cui quello relativo alla tratta Tivoli-Mandela. Per avviare i lavori fu necessario far giungere a Tivoli la locomotiva e altro materiale. Si pensò a questa soluzione : fu steso un binario che attraversando Via Maggiore consentisse di trasferire la locomotiva fino al piazzale deila stazione.
"Con un binario mobile a scartamento normale del tramvai Roma-Tivoli, la locomotiva arrivata all'altezza del fabbricato di proprietà della signora Teresa Sterlick in Ginotti dovette arrestarsi perchè lo spigolo del palazzo sporgeva all'interno della strada in modo da impedire ilpassaggio della locomotiva" così descrive il Mezzetti l'episodio che portò alla creazione della cosiddetta "Fontana di Gemma" dopo che si decise, per consentire il passaggio della locomotiva di abbattere quell'angolo del palazzo che ne impediva la manovra.
